Do registry cleaners actually work?
There are many different opinions about registry cleaners. If you talk to five different IT guys, you'll get five different answers. The bottom line is that our computer optimization process DOES NOT include registry cleaning!
Most registry cleaning tools on the market are pushed on the end user because they make many companies lots of money. Like anything in life, if the claim is too good to be true, be skeptical. There are many companies advertising on television and in print media that these type of tools dramatically increase your computer's speed.
In some cases a registry cleaning process can improve performance or perceived performance. However, in many cases, a failed cleaning attempt can actually cause serious issues with your operating system. Also, if a registry cleaning actually improves your performance, then there are likely much more serious issues with your operating system that also need attention.
We do not use registry cleaning tools when we performance a virus removal or system optimization. In our experience, a solid system optimization process including temporary files clean-up, a full round of Windows Updates, start-up program and Internet Explorer optimization, etc. is about all a system needs to perform at peak efficiency. In many cases, a full optimization will bring your computer's performance back to the day when it was brand new. Sometimes an inexpensive memory upgrade is what's needed more than anything else.
The bottom line...
