Virus Removal

We specialize in removing viruses, spyware and malware without having to reformat your computer or reinstall Windows. Of course, some rare cases are severe enough where only a complete reinstall of Windows will resolve the issue.

The obvious benefit to fixing a virus infection instead of reinstalling Windows is that all your applications and data remain untouched. When you get your computer back, it will look and perform just like it did (likely much better than it did!) before your virus infection.

Our process involves multiple steps:

We perform a full backup before we begin the virus removal process to protect your data.
We use industry standard virus removal applications to limit potential damage to system and data files.
We run multiple virus scan passes to ensure your system is completed clean before turning it back over to you.
We fix system related issues that are often present after a complete virus removal - this takes time and this process is often overlooked during the clean-up process.
After clean-up, we test your system's installed applications to ensure everything runs as expected.
We Install and/or update your installed virus scanning software and recommend changes in protection software if necessary.

Our virus cleaning process usually takes about an hour of actual work on our part to complete. In actuality it takes much longer because the scans we typically run can take multiple hours to complete in some cases. For in-shop or pick-up virus removal services, we only bill for time spent physically working on your computer.

In more extreme cases, a computer may need a reinstallation of Windows to resolve the virus issues. Even in those worst cases, we pro-rate the time spent on the removal process so we keep our service costs very affordable.

All our virus removal processes are done by us - we don't farm out our work! As with all our services, turn around time varies, but virus removals generally take about 1 hour to complete (with serious infections taking closer to 1.5 hours).
